House and Senate Democrats are launching an all-out p.r. blitz to divert public attention from the politically disastrous Dallas massacre, by pushing a “Sense of Congress” resolution that allows Senators to condemn firearms manufacturers, tobacco companies, energy companies, think tanks and other enemies for supposedly misleading the American public.
The “Web of Denial” conspiracy campaign is being led in the Senate by Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D.-R.I.) and his environmental policy advisor Emily Enderle. In the House, the “Web of Denial” resolution is led by Rep. Ted Lieu (D.-Hawaii), according to a planning email obtained by Breitbart News.
On Monday, nine Democratic senators condemned various business organizations and think tanks. On Tuesday, 12 senators are to speak, according to internal electronic correspondence made available to Breitbart News. Minority Leader Harry Reid (D.-Nev.) kicks off the speakers list Tuesday.
“The Senators will each deliver remarks detailing how interconnected groups – funded by the Koch brothers, major fossil fuel companies like ExxonMobil and Peabody Coal, identity-scrubbing groups like Donors Trust and Donors Capital, and their allies – developed and executed a massive campaign to deceive the public about climate change to halt climate action and protect their bottom lines,” said the email.
Working behind the scenes with the Democrats is The Partnership for Responsible Growth, a partnership of three top Washington lobbyists. They are Walter C. Minnick, a former Democratic congressman from Idaho, William C. Eacho, a fundraiser for President Barack Obama, and George T. Frampton, who was senior environment advisor in President Bill Clinton’s White House. Frampton also worked as a Democratic attorney on the Watergate committee.
