Mark Meadows: Americans, People across the Globe are Making Sure ‘Sovereign Rights are Respected’

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) joined Breitbart News Saturday on SiriusXM Patriot Channel 125, stressing the need for politicians to listen to the people rather than big money donors, as well as reacting to the Brexit vote on Thursday where voters in the United Kingdom voted to exit the European Union (EU).

“The bigger the bureaucracy, the less efficient it becomes,” Meadows explained, saying that’s what the Brexit result demonstrates.

“They’ll always be our ally,” he added of Britain being part of the EU or not.  He said Brexit “underscores that not just the American people, but people across the globe are really looking to make sure sovereign rights are respected.”

“It is about making decisions for one’s own nation and having that done independently,” he added.

He said politicians would make better decisions in Washington if they “just listen to moms and dads on main street” and “listen to the hard working factory workers and what affects them.”

“If we’re just willing to listen to the people that put us there in the first place” better decisions will be made by Congress, he stressed. “Donald Trump has shown that he is doing that and I think it will serve him well in the long run.”

Meadows also took time to criticize presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and Democrats in Congress pushing gun control instead of addressing radical Islamic terrorism.

“If you start to look at the details, whether it’s the email and the secret server or Benghazi, which the report should be coming out in the coming days on that, we know she has not been honest with the American people,” Meadows charged about Clinton. “It’s what we don’t know” that’s more troubling, he added.

He said Democrats are making terrorism about gun control, saying, “it becomes a rallying point… [in as] much as they want to say it’s big money on the NRA… that’s not the case with me.”

“There’s also big money on the other side for them advancing that charge,” he suggested about why the Democrats are pushing gun control, adding it’s “suggesting the false narrative that it’s all about guns.”
