GOP presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump listed examples of jihadists who have carried out Islamic terror attacks on the United States and their connection to “poor policies of the past” as part of his response to the Orlando terror attack in an address on terrorism, immigration and national security.
During the speech Trump said (according to a transcript of the speech):
If we want to protect the quality of life for all Americans – women and children, gay and straight, Jews and Christians and all people – then we need to tell the truth about Radical Islam.
We need to tell the truth, also, about how Radical Islam is coming to our shores.
We are importing Radical Islamic Terrorism into the West through a failed immigration system — and through an intelligence community held back by our president.
Even our own FBI Director has admitted that we cannot effectively check the backgrounds of the people we are letting into America.
All of the September 11th hijackers were issued visas.
Histories for those involved in carrying out the 9/11/2001 Islamic terror attack on the United States are detailed on the FAIR (The Federation for American Immigration Reform) website.
“Large numbers of Somali refugees in Minnesota have tried to join ISIS,” said Trump.
Last year ten Muslims from a Somali refugee community were charged with attempting to support Islamic terror group ISIS (referred to in court documents as ISIL). Minnesota Public Radio reported that three were convicted on June 3 of attempting to join the terror group and commit murder overseas. In April Breitbart News reported of one of the men, “Court documents reveal that a Minnesota Muslim who was allegedly plotting with others to join the Islamic State discussed routing potential terrorists through Mexico to carry out attacks on U.S. soil.”
Trump continued, “The Boston Bombers came here through political asylum.”
The Boston bombers’ parents came to America with son Dzhokhar in 2002. They applied for and received political asylum. The parents applied for the two boys as well who were given “derivative asylum status” according to Bloomberg. Boston Islamic terror bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev received U.S. Citizenship on September 11,2012. He was sentenced to death in 2015 for the capitol crimes he and his brother Tamerlan committed in bombing the Boston Marathon, killing three and injuring greater than 260 people. Older brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev originally came to the U.S. on a visa granted in Turkey according to the Boston Globe. In 2012 he applied for citizenship and was one supervisor approval and a swearing-in ceremony away from being granted citizenship.
Trump went on to say:
The male shooter in San Bernardino – again, whose name I won’t mention — was the child of immigrants from Pakistan, and he brought his wife – the other terrorist – from Saudi Arabia, through another one of our easily exploited visa programs.
San Bernardino Islamic terrorist Syed Rizwan Farook was born in Chicago, Illinois to parents who had immigrated from Pakistan according to the Los Angeles Times. Farook’s wife and co-attacker Tashfeen Malik was a native of Pakistan and claimed to have lived in Saudi Arabia for a short time in 2013. She came to the U.S. on a K-1 finance visa in 2014. Farook also made plans with friend and Muslim convert Enrique Marquez years before the December 2 terror attacks. Marquez now faces charges including immigration fraud in his marriage to Mariya Chernykh. She is the sister of Tatiana Farook and along with Syed Raheel Farook, brother of Syed Rizwan Farook, were arrested on several charges including immigration fraud in April of this year.
Trump continued:
Immigration from Afghanistan into the United States has increased nearly five-fold in just one year. According to Pew Research, 99% of people in Afghanistan support oppressive Sharia Law.
We admit many more from other countries in the region who share these same oppressive views.
If we want to remain a free and open society, then we have to control our borders.
Trump later revisited the history of immigration policies in the U.S. that have facilitated the infiltration of fundamentalist Islam in America:
We’ve got to get smart, and tough, and vigilant, and we’ve got to do it now, because later is too late.
The media talks about “homegrown,” terrorism, but Islamic radicalism, and the networks that nurture it, are imports from overseas.
Yes, there are many radicalized people already inside our country as a result of the poor policies of the past. But the whole point is that it will be much, much easier to deal with our current problem if we don’t keep on bringing in people who add to the problem.
For instance, the controversial Mosque attended by the Boston Bombers had as its founder an immigrant from overseas charged in an assassination plot.
The Islamic Society of Boston, the Cambridge, Massachusetts mosque attended by the Tsarnaev brothers, was founded by Abdurahman Alamoudi according to the New York Post. He was born in Eritrea and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1996 according to the U.S. Department of Justice. In 2004 Alamoudi “was sentenced to 23 years in prison for plotting terrorism. In 2005, the Treasury Department issued a statement saying Alamoudi raised money for al Qaeda in the US.” Alamoudi was paraded as a moderate Muslim leader in Washington, D.C., appointed to influential positions with the U.S. government. USA Today reported, “Jacobs says claims of moderate Islam do not square with the mosque’s classic jihadi texts in its library and its hosting of radical speakers.”
Trump continued:
This shooter in Orlando was the child of an immigrant father who supported one of the most repressive regimes on Earth.
Orlando Islamic terror attacker Omar Mateen was born in the U.S. to Afghan parents. The attack on a gay nightclub in Florida occurred in the first hours of Sunday morning. Mateen’s father Seddique Mateen hosts an online television show in which he has referred to the Taliban as his “warrior brothers.” The senior Mateen posted a new video to his early Monday. The FBI had investigated the Orlando Islamic attacker for terror ties more than once.
“Why would we admit people who support violent hatred?” Trump went on to say.
In December former FBI counter-terrorism Special Agent John Guandolo told Breitbart News Daily on SiriusXM that of the more than 2,200 Islamic Centers and mosques in America the, “vast majority of them are a part of this network — they’re hostile.”
