Senator Elizabeth Warren cannot stop talking and thinking about presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump. In her public statements and social media, the woman Donald Trump has dismissed as “The Indian?” is talking about little else, and she is not hiding that she is scared.
“Now, we’ve talked for a long time about important elections, when John Kerry took on W, when Obama fought McCain — very important races,” Warren told the Massachusetts Democratic convention over the weekend. “But today, we have something new, a presidential contest that isn’t just important; it’s downright scary. And we all know the reason why: the big, loud — and I mean loud — elephant in the room, Donald Trump.”
“Could any of us have imagined that people all over the United States would be begging Mitt Romney to run for president?” Warren quipped in the speech. “Come on, okay, and look, it’s some of you begging him, too, right? It’s okay. You can admit it. You’re among friends here,” she told the room full of Democrats.
Warren posted the speech Monday, the nearly 13-minute address devoted to Trump.
A quick review of Senator Warren’s Twitter shows just how fixated she is on Trump. Forty-five of her last forty-seven tweets to her more than 450,000 followers were either directly tagged at Donald Trump or were obviously referring to him. Here are just a few examples:
Many consider Warren a leading candidate to be selected as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s vice presidential running mate.
