Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump responded on Twitter to Speaker of the House Paul Ryan’s endorsement, which Ryan announced in an op-ed in his hometown newspaper, published on Thursday.
“So great to have the endorsement and support of Paul Ryan. We will both be working very hard to Make America Great Again!” Trump posted on Twitter Thursday afternoon.
“I feel confident he would help us turn the ideas in this agenda into laws to help improve people’s lives,” Ryan wrote in the op-ed. “That’s why I’ll be voting for him this fall.”
The endorsement comes after Ryan said he wasn’t ready to support Trump earlier in May once both Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) dropped out of the race and Trump was declared the presumptive Republican nominee.
Trump now has the support from the two top leading Republicans in Congress, Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
