Republican National Committee (RNC) chief strategist and communications director Sean Spicer blasted the mainstream media for not holding Hillary Clinton surrogate Ed Rendell’s feet to the fire for his comments about “ugly women.”

Former Pennsylvania governor Rendell made headlines by stating that “Trump’s comments like ‘You can’t be a 10 if you’re flat-chested,’ that’ll come back to haunt him. There are probably more ugly women in America than attractive women. People take that stuff personally.”

Spicer said on Breitbart News Sunday on SiriusXM Patriot 125 that Rendell should be held to the same standard as any Republican who makes a comment that the media would deem offensive.

“This idea that Ed Rendell, who is the chairman of this convention that is about to occur in Philadelphia for the Democrats, a former DNC chair, a former governor, a top surrogate, makes a statement like that,  and barely anyone in the mainstream media acknowledges it? And when they do, it was all like, ‘Well, he’s already apologized, let’s move on.’ I think this shows you the unbelievable double standard that exists in the media today,” Spicer said.

“They dissect every tweet and word and syllable that comes out of Donald Trump’s mouth and every conservative, but when it comes to liberals that make unbelievably offensive comments, it’s always an excuse. ‘Well, he apologized. He didn’t mean it. He’s a good guy.'”

“You know, to every conservative that’s out there listening: you’ve got to take every story that comes out of, whether it’s Politico, or MSNBC, with a grain of salt, and understand that they wake up every day trying to figure out how to discredit conservatives,” Spicer said.
