Donald Trump: ‘We’re Getting Rid of Gun-Free Zones’

During a May 20 speech to the NRA Leadership Forum, presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump said, “We’re getting rid of gun-free zones.”

He said this after referencing the terrorist attacks in Paris, San Bernardino, and Chattanooga.

Trump described the scene in Paris, saying the attackers came in and “boom, boom, boom.” He talked of how they ordered some victims to stand in one place and other victims to stand in a different place, then shot them at will. He said, “There were no guns on the other side. But if you would have had guns on the other side… there would not have been 130 people killed and hundreds of people lying in the hospital.”

In fact, Trump suggested the attack “might not have happened” if the attackers had known their planned victims could shoot back.

He brought up San Bernardino, where he said the situation was similar to Paris–14 unarmed innocents slaughtered by Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik.

Trump lamented the July 2015 deaths of five U.S. military personnel in Chattanooga. He observed:

They were told, put your guns away. You’ve got to put your guns away–and these are soldiers, these are people representing us, these are the top of the line, these five great, brave, incredible soldiers–so their guns are locked up, put in a different area of the place. And a whack job walks in and starts shooting and kills all five of them.

Trump then looked at the audience and said, “We’re getting rid of gun-free zones.”
