In March, FBI Director James Comey testified to Congress regarding the agency’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was the Secretary of State. When pressed about the timing of completing the investigation, Comey replied, “I can’t, Congressman. As you know, we don’t talk about our investigations. What I can assure you is that I am very close, personally, to that investigation to ensure that we have the resources we need including people and technology. And that it is done the way the FBI tries to do all of its work: independently, competently, and promptly. That’s our goal and I’m confident it’s being done that way but I can’t give you any more details than that.”
Last Wednesday, when asked by Fox News about Clinton’s characterization of the bureau’s probe as a mere “security inquiry,” Comey said he doesn’t know what “security inquiry” means, adding, “We’re conducting an investigation… That’s what we do.”
What is clear by all accounts is that Comey has a reputation of unimpeachable integrity.
What is also clear is that leading Democrats are publicly mocking the FBI, the investigation, and Director Comey. Whether it’s denial, wishful thinking, or an attempt to intimidate him, Democratic leaders have dismissed, ridiculed, and deflected from Comey’s and the FBI’s efforts to do their job proficiently—something foreign to the Obama Administration. Specifically:
Hillary Clinton
It’s funny – On April 8, 2016, Hillary Clinton dismissed the idea of criminal proceedings and laughed about the investigation. “Oh my goodness! Well, Matt, I know that they live in that world of fantasy and hope because they’ve got a mess on their hands on the Republican side.”
They failed to catch me for 25 years and it’s not going to start now – “That is not going to happen. There is not even the remotest chance that is going to happen,” Clinton added, alleging, “they have been after me for 25 years.”
This is not even an investigation – Clinton also argued of the FBI investigation, “Well, we’re certainly going to carry on. I think it’s a security review.”
President Obama
I already know the results of the investigation – President Obama told Fox News Sunday on April 10, 2016, “Here’s what I know,” Obama told Wallace. “Hillary Clinton was an outstanding Secretary of State. She would never intentionally put America in any kind of jeopardy.” When pressed by Chris Wallace on whether Clinton jeopardized national security, Obama declared, “no one has suggested that in some ways as a consequence of how she’s handled e-mails that that detracted from her excellent ability to carry out her duties.”
Former President Clinton
It’s just a game – President Clinton argued earlier this month, “If you’re driving in a 50 mile-an-hour zone, and a police officer pulls you over when you’re driving 40, and says, ‘I’m sorry, I’ve got to give you a ticket because you know the speed limit here should be 35, and you should have known it.’ So, everybody’s all breathless about this, look, this is a game.”
Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz
She’s not even the target – Last Friday on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” Wasserman Schultz said “Secretary Clinton is not the target of this investigation or whatever you want to call it.”
Senator Bernie Sanders
No one cares about her emails – Sanders defended Clinton in a debate last October saying: “I think the Secretary is right. And that is I think the American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails.”
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio
She clearly followed the law – Mayor de Blasio claimed last year: “To me it’s quite clear that measures were taken to comply with the letter and the spirit of the law, and I respect that.”
Senator Dianne Feinstein
She never sent classified information – Feinstein wrote in a formal statement last August: “First, none of the emails alleged to contain classified information were written by Secretary Clinton.”
Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid
This is just Republicans wasting money – Reid alleged in November, “Why are nonpartisan public service positions being used as political pawns…How much money will Republicans in Congress waste to try to bring down Hillary Clinton?”
House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi
These investigations are a farce – Pelosi professed last year, “And I think we’re going to just see the ongoing attempt to investigate Hillary Clinton, whatever the subject, whether it’s her emails or it’s her hair or whatever it happens to be.”
Every day, more revelations emerge about how widespread the scandal actually was. With each new disclosure comes another lie and deception. I am confident the FBI has known these facts for months. I am also confident that Comey and the FBI will not be intimidated and these attempts to mock and discredit will fail. If so, we are only 247 days from Oblimination – the complete reversal of Obama’s and Clinton’s failed policies.
