SANTA MONICA, California — Former Mexican President Vicente Fox said the United States and Mexico should “absolutely” give each other preferential treatment as neighboring countries.
“Absolutely, yes,” he responded when asked by Breitbart News if due to America’s and Mexico’s close geographic location, the two governments should give one another preferential treatment.
What would be better for this nation, that instead of kicking the ass of Mexicans and planning to get them them out of the country, if you would understand them and you would see that they would be a very strong working force and a strong contributors to the United States.
“We know, Catholics and Evangelists, the First Commandment is ‘love thy neighbor’ — and we are the neighbor and we are the partners,” he added.
Fox was visiting California to participate in a conference hosted by the Milken Institute, speaking about “compassionate leadership” and promoting his charitable work.
He also wanted to smooth relations with presumptive Republican nominee Donald J. Trump, with whom he had a war of words earlier in the year.
“I apologize. Forgiveness is one of the greatest qualities that human beings have, is the quality of a compassionate leader. You have to be humble. You have to be compassionate. You have to love thy neighbor,” Fox said, extending an invitation to Trump to visit Mexico and see the border from the southern side.
However, Fox also told Breitbart News that he preferred Hillary Clinton to win the White House.
“I see the presidential seat of the United States also with an ideal lady, with a lady that really knows how to use power within the limits of compassionate leadership … I think that seat of power, that seat that influences and leads the whole of the world, should have somebody that [has] the qualifications, the characteristics, that goes along with the Founding Fathers’ dream.”
