An 11-year-old homeschool student, who opened fire and struck an alleged burglary suspect in the leg, said, “He was crying like a baby.”
The incident occurred in Talladega, Alabama, on Wednesday morning. According to WVTM 13, 11-year-old Chris Gaither was home alone Wednesday morning when he heard a strange noise upstairs. He retrieved a 9mm semiautomatic handgun and went to investigate. He found a suspect coming down the stairs and said the suspect starting cursing and said he was going to kill the 11-year-old.
The suspect then ran “out of the front door with a hamper in hand,” as Gaither opened fire. The boy’s “12th and final shot hit the suspect in the leg.”
Gaither said, “I shot through the hamper he was carrying. It was a full metal jacket bullet. It went straight through the back of his leg. He started crying like a little baby.”
