White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest mocked Donald Trump for his pronunciation of “Tanzania” as the New Yorker used a teleprompter to outline his foreign policy today.
During the speech, Trump criticized Obama’s foreign policy failures as president and vowed a new way forward.
The White House called a press briefing before Trump’s speech was over, prompting reporters to wonder if Earnest was intentionally interrupting the conclusion of Trump’s speech.
“No, I didn’t start, either,” he replied.
After reporters pointed out Trump’s unusual pronunciation of Tanzania, he joked.
“Apparently the phonetics are not included on the teleprompter.”
