Monday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” former Gov. George Pataki (R-NY), a former candidate for the GOP presidential nomination that has now put his support behind Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) for president, told host Joe Scarborough the key to stopping GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump was to prevent him getting enough delegates to clinch the nomination prior to the convention.
“I think the key to stop Donald Trump is to not let him become the nominee before the convention,” Pataki said. “Then at the convention, the delegates are free to choose whoever they want and then I think the delegates and then I think the delegates are going to take a look and say, ‘Who can win in November?’ I think they’re going to be pragmatic and want to win.”
