In the week leading up to the Wisconsin Republican primary the Ted Cruz campaign is leaving nothing to chance — as positive poll results and endorsements roll in for frontrunner Donald Trump’s closest competition for the nomination.
Cruz campaign manager Jeff Roe wrote in a Sunday email, “Our campaign is all hands on deck in Wisconsin.”
“To aid in that effort, we have volunteers from across the country who are deployed in the Badger State at Camp Cruz to spearhead our GOTV effort,” the email continued before pitching for anyone else interested in helping before Tuesday to “sign up now.” For those unable to make it out the campaign email offers a “tool to allow you to make phone calls from home or wherever you are.”
The campaign email goes on to reveal that “our campaign is also competing and amassing delegates in North Dakota, Colorado, and Tennessee this weekend.”
As Roe’s message comes to a close he speaks of the impending possibility of a contested convention in July, “While we still very much have a path to the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the nomination before the convention in Cleveland — and we’re working hard to do it — our team is also getting ready for the possibility of a contested convention.”
A representative for the campaign confirmed to Breitbart News that the Cruz team is running a “robust campaign” with those people from across the country walking precincts and making calls on behalf of the campaign in Wisconsin.
The Cruz campaign has been running a strong ground game that has been coming to the surface more and more as a contested convention becomes a greater possibility. Just over the weekend Cruz won preferred delegates in both Colorado and North Dakota. Republican voters in those states do not vote in a traditional primary or caucus. Delegates are rather chosen during state and congressional district nominating processes. He has also been meeting with delegates ahead of primary contests in states like California.
