President Barack Obama shared a family portrait on social media Sunday while wishing his followers a happy Easter.
The photo of Barack, Michelle, Sasha, and Malia Obama — with their Portuguese Water Dogs Sunny and Bo — is the first message shared to the President’s personal Twitter account since his Spanish greeting to the people of Cuba.
“From my family to yours, Happy Easter,” the message reads, “and we wish everyone celebrating a blessed and joyful day.”
Obama released a statement on Friday commemorating the holiday which celebrates the resurrection of Jesus the Christ:
Michelle and I join our fellow Christians in observing Good Friday and celebrating Easter this weekend. This is a time to remember the sacrifices made for us and hold all who suffer close to our hearts. Yet it is also a time to rejoice, give thanks for the Resurrection, and unite with Christians around the world in proclaiming, “Christ has risen; He has risen indeed.” We wish all who celebrate a blessed and joyful Easter.
