Democratic presidential candidate former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that male candidates aren’t told to smile more or lower the volume of their voice “and I’ve seen a lot of male candidates who don’t smile very much, and who talk pretty loud” on Monday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Final 5 Candidates.”
When asked if she was held to different standard with critiques that she should smile more and it sounds like she yells when she speaks, and if this is sexist, Hillary answered, “Well, let me say, I don’t hear anybody say that about men, and I’ve seen a lot of male candidates who don’t smile very much, and who talk pretty loud. So, I guess I’ll just leave it at that.”
