President Obama Films Skit With Cuban Comedian

President Obama’s legacy will be one known for normalizing relations with Communist Cuba. That effort expanded Friday when Obama filmed a comedy skit with famous Cuban comic Pánfilo.

The skit shows an awkward Pánfilo calling the White House for weather updates. Pánfilo is shocked to discover that’s it’s the U.S. president who’s answered his call.

“The Cuban people and the American people are friends,” Obama says.

Obama taped the three-minute sketch with Pánfilo, whose real name is Luis Silva, just one month after denouncing Donald Trump and asserting that the Republican presidential frontrunner would not be president because it’s “a serious job” that’s different from “hosting a talk show, or a reality show. It’s not promotion, it’s not marketing.”

Obama and Pánfilo’s skit was posted on the U.S. embassy in Cuba’s Facebook and is expected to be seen by most of the nation’s 11 million citizens.

President Obama and his family are scheduled to visit Cuba this week. The trip is meant to strengthen America’s commitment to the Communist country.

Controversy continues to surround Obama’s visit to Cuba, as its government has ordered Cuban dissidents to stay away from the President during his historic visit.

Cubans who speak out against their own government and fight for basic human rights are repressed, jailed, or executed.

Obama will become the first sitting U.S. president to visit Cuba in nearly a century.
