Between Thursday morning and 6:29 a.m. Friday, approximately 21 people were shot, 1 stabbed, and 1 killed in gun-controlled Chicago.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the fatality resulted from a shooting at around 7:10 p.m. Thursday night. That fatality occurred in a shooting that left two others wounded.

Shootings followed at 9:50, 10:00, 10:25, and 11:55 p.m. on Thursday, and at 1:25, 1:35, 1:40, 2:00, and 3:40 a.m. on Friday. The man shot and wounded at 2:00 a.m. was “driving on Interstate 57 in the Morgan Park neighborhood.”

On March 9, Breitbart News reported 21 people were shot, leaving two dead, in a 20-hour period in Chicago. The Chicago Tribune described the 20-hour shooting spree as a “burst of violence” that “included three shootings in the area of 63rd Street and Sacramento Avenue within two hours.”

And on February 22, 2016, the Chicago Tribune reported that homicides in Chicago were up 100 percent year-to-date over the level they reached January 1 through February 22, 2015.

Interestingly, Chicago has a “violence tax” that raises the price of every gun and bullet sold at retail, and it limits the number of gun stores and the locations of those stores–making it difficult and more expensive for law-abiding citizens to acquire the weapons they need for self-defense.

Moreover, Chicago has what The New York Times describes as handgun restrictions, allowing city leaders to “get as close as they could get legally to a ban without a ban.”

They also have an “assault weapons” ban–the very type of ban President Obama and other Democrats repeatedly put forward as a way to fight crime.
