Establishment Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) will hold a fundraiser on Monday to support Sen. Ted Cruz for president.

CNN reported:

A draft of the invitation, obtained first by CNN, invites guests to “honor and support a great friend of Israel and the Jewish people,” at a meet-and-greet event that will take place during the AIPAC policy conference in Washington next week.

Graham is holding the fundraiser despite comments revealing his distaste for Cruz and favor of John Kasich. Graham calls Cruz, “the best alternative to Donald Trump,” according to Politico. The fundraiser is expected to be held at Clyde’s Gallery Place with a minimum ticket price of $1,000.

About two weeks ago Graham reluctantly admitted:

…if Marco doesn’t win Florida, I don’t know how he goes forward. If Kasich loses Ohio– you know, Ted Cruz is not my favorite by any means. I don’t wish him ill. I made a joke about Ted but we may be in a position where we have to rally around Ted Cruz as the only way to stop Trump and I’m not so sure that would work.

Rubio lost in Florida by a wide margin to frontrunner Donald Trump on Tuesday while Ohio Gov. John Kasich won his first victory in his home state that same night.

“A good Republican would defend Ted Cruz after tonight,” Graham said last month according to video posted by CNN, “that ain’t happenin’.” He made the comments after joking, “my party has gone bat **** crazy.”

“If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody could convict you,” Graham said at the Washington Press Club Foundation’s 72nd Congressional Dinner address.

“I don’t think he could run for dog catcher in this state and win,” Trump said of Graham during a February town hall in Graham’s home state of South Carolina.

Graham stepped down from the republican presidential race in December after failing to garner significant support. He subsequently supported former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush who left the race just two months later.
