Monday on Fox News Channel’s “The Kelly File,” host Megyn Kelly interviewed former Breitbart editor at large Ben Shapiro, who abruptly resigned from Breitbart News in the midst of a controversy involving an alleged assault by Corey Lewandowski, the campaign manager for Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, of former Breitbart News reporter Michelle Fields at a campaign event last week in Jupiter, FL.
Fields, who also recently resigned from Breitbart, recounted her version of the event and laid out her reasons for leaving Breitbart News.
Shapiro went on to explain why he resigned and reiterated his claim that his former employer was “Trump’s personal Pravda.”
However, host Megyn Kelly asked why he viewed this as a story.
“So, why is this a story?” Kelly asked. “Ben, in your view, apart from the implosion of Breitbart and it’s part of the civil war that we’re seeing, you know, from some on the right, why is this a story?”
Shapiro argued that it said a lot about the Trump campaign and the reluctance within to acknowledge a mistake.
Also, earlier on Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Howard Kurtz, the anchor of the network’s “MediaBuzz” program, offered a recount of the timeline of the controversy.
“Breitbart has become an important force in conservative journalism,” Kurtz explained. “But regardless of what happened with Michelle Fields, the site has been torn apart with Trump.”

Throughout the day on the cable news channel, a video featured on The Gateway Pundit’s website offered a clearer angle of what transpired between Fields and Lewandowski on March 8 at the Trump, which has been offered by those on both sides of the story as evidence it backs up the claims of Lewandowski and Fields.

In an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “The Real Story,” former Breitbart spokesman Kurt Bardella was asked by host Gretchen Carlson about his reasoning for resigning from Breitbart over the Fields incident.

In that interview, Bardella reiterated an earlier claim he had made about the site and what he suggested was a pro-Trump slant.
