On Tuesday’s “New Day” on CNN, former Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D-MI), a supporter of Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton, was asked about issues related to Clinton’s untrustworthiness when matched up head to head with her rival Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
Granholm downplayed the claims and said they were tied a “myth” put out by Fox News.
“This notion of her being untrustworthy, etc. — they will continue to put millions of dollars and I just hope Democrats are not influenced by that,” Granholm said. “And I think that when, you know, Fox is the biggest purveyor of that myth, and I think that we’ve got to be careful on our side not to buy into what the Republicans want us to buy into.”
Host Alisyn Camerota pointed to polling data to back up the claim Clinton was viewed as untrustworthy, to which Granholm continued to dismiss as being a product of the so-called right wing.
“And that is a result of the right-wing putting out so much related to that question,” she added. “They will continue to do that, and she’s got to continue to work on gaining the trust of the voters and they’re very well aware of that and they’re going to continue to do that. And this will continue to be an issue that the Republicans will peddle for sure.”
