Wednesday on “CBS This Morning,” Bob Schieffer, the moderator of the network’s Sunday morning program “Face the Nation,” observed the so-called Republican Party establishment was struggling to come to grips with the possibility Donald Trump or Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), both of which were not their preferred candidates, could be their party’s presidential nominee.
“I have never ever seen anything like what we saw last night,” Schieffer said. “I mean, I think the Republican establishment is going through the stages of grief. First, there is denial. They never thought this was going to happen. Then there is anger. Then there is bargaining and then there is acceptance. I’m not sure they are at the acceptance stage yet.”
