Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) went after rival Donald Trump Saturday accusing him of being on all sides of the immigration debate and of helping fund the Gang of Eight amnesty bill.
Cruz said that Trump needs to pick a side on the immigration debate.
“In the Civil War, you couldn’t fight for the North and the South at the same time,” Cruz said in Perry, Georgia. “You know who was helping fund the Gang of Eight? Little fella named Donald J. Trump.”
This is the same line of attack that Cruz used on Trump during this week’s Republican presidential debate
“If you look at the eight members of the gang of eight, Donald gave over $50,000 to three Democrats and two Republicans,” Cruz said Thursday at the debate. “And when you’re funding open border politicians, you shouldn’t be surprised when they fight for open borders.”
“I can tell you, when I ran for Senate here in the state of Texas, I ran promising to lead the fight against amnesty, promising to fight to build a wall,” Cruz said. “And in 2013, when I was leading the fight against the Gang of Eight amnesty bill, where was Donald? He was firing Dennis Rodman on ‘Celebrity Apprentice.'”
