John Kasich: ‘I Don’t Know If My Purpose Is To Be President’

GOP presidential candidate Gov. John Kasich tells supporters, “I don’t know if my purpose is to be president.”

Speaking at Kennesaw State University, Kasich dismissed the suggestion from a supporter that he should more vociferously confront GOP frontrunner Donald Trump, reports Paul Bedard at the Washington Examiner.

“I don’t know if my purpose is to be president,” Kasich replied. “My purpose is to be out here, doing what I think I need to be doing and we’ll see where it ends up. And if it’s not this crusade, then it will be another one. Maybe it will be a really small one somewhere in my kid’s school. Who knows?”

As Breitbart News reported, Kasich – an “establishment” candidate – did not campaign in Nevada prior to the GOP caucuses on Tuesday:

Kasich is currently running fifth in Nevada, but is technically in fourth after former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush dropped out after a disappointing result in South Carolina on Saturday evening. He is also fourth in Virginia, however, and fifth in Georgia, behind Dr. Ben Carson, among candidates who are still in the presidential race. So it is not clear why Kasich is avoiding Nevada in particular, where he still maintains an active campaign organization.

Kasich is likely looking to the “SEC primary” on March 1 – also known as Super Tuesday – to make his best pitch to GOP voters.
