LAS VEGAS – Bernie Sanders congratulated Hillary Clinton on her victory in Nevada’s closely-contested Democratic caucus on Saturday after Fox News and the Associated Press called the results.
I just spoke to Secretary Clinton and congratulated her on her victory here in Nevada. I am very proud of the campaign we ran. Five weeks ago we were 25 points behind and we ended up in a very close election. And we probably will leave Nevada with a solid share of the delegates.
I am also proud of the fact that we have brought many working people and young people into the political process and believe that we have the wind at our back as we head toward Super Tuesday. I want to thank the people of Nevada for their support that they have given us and the boost that their support will give us as we go forward.
Breitbart News was live on the scene from one of the caucus locations in Henderson that drew out a healthy amount of many Clinton and Sanders supporters, although the turnout appeared to be much smaller than it was in 2008, when Clinton and Barack Obama duked it out.
As of 3:15 p.m. PST Clinton was showing 52 percent and Sanders 48 per cent with 80 percent of precincts reporting in.
Sanders enjoyed a 22-point victory over Clinton in New Hampshire earlier this month and left the Iowa contest in a virtual tie with Clinton beating him by two-tenths of one percent just eight days prior to that. Democrats will vote in South Carolina on February 27, where the Republicans are currently engaged in a primary election battle.
