Chicago Tribune editorial board member Clarence Page stated that Pope Francis’ statement about GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump is something “a liberal, progressive minister would say, in off-the-cuff conversation” on this weekend’s “McLaughlin Group.”
Page said, “[T]he statement that Trump’s attitude of building walls instead of bridges is not Christian did not startle me. It’s the kind of thing that ministers say, that a liberal, progressive minister would say, in off-the-cuff conversation.”
Page added that Trump responded “as he often does, with thin-skinned, overreach.”
