On February 6, a felon, allegedly armed with a fake gun, was shot in the neck by a convenience store cashier armed with a real one.
The incident occurred 2:25 a.m. in Pensacola, Florida.
According to the Pensacola News Journal, the Pensacola Police Department says 24-year-old Jarell Blackmon “entered the store at 1101 W. Cervantes Street … wearing camouflage, a hat and a bandana over his face.” The cashier — 20-year-old Abed Alsaq — asked Blackmon to remove the bandana, but he responded by drawing a gun and coming behind the counter.
Blackmon reportedly took “cash from the drawer and 10 cartons of cigarettes before he fled the business.”
During the robbery, Alsaq drew a real gun and was able to shoot Blackmon in the neck. According to police, an officer later spotted Blackmon bleeding from neck, and ordered to him to stop, but Blackmon fled. K-9s were brought in, and Blackmon was eventually captured. He “was charged with armed robbery, grand theft, public order crimes, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and resisting without violence.”
According to the police report, Blackmon claims he used a fake gun while in the convenience store.
