Marvel Entertainment CEO Isaac “Ike” Perlmutter joined Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump by donating $1 million of his own money to America’s veterans on Thursday night in Des Moines, Iowa.
Trump’s boycott event, which was organized following a dispute with Thursday’s Republican debate host Fox News, raised approximately $6 million dollars for America’s veterans. Trump estimated a majority of it came from fellow businessmen. More than $600,000 came from online donations.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Marvel Entertainment head and his wife, Laura, pledged $1 million to the fundraiser.
Speaking at the fundraiser, Trump said Perlmutter is “an unbelievable man,” who is “one of the great, great men of our country in terms of business and talent.”

A representative for exec told THR Perlmutter and his wife were thrilled to support the cause: “The Perlmutters are thrilled to support their friend Donald Trump in his efforts to help veterans.”
Investor Carl Icahn and real estate developer Phil Ruffin also donated $1 million each to Trump’s fundraiser. Trump also gave $1 million to the drive, which attracted two of his GOP rivals.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum took part in Trump’s fundraiser, where they both delivered separate remarks.
“I’m supporting another candidate for president,” Santorum said. “That doesn’t mean we can’t work together when it comes to helping our veterans.”
Huckabee, who had competed in Fox’s earlier so-called “undercard” debate with Santorum, quipped: “I have nothing to do at 8 o’clock. This worked great for me.”
Trump summed up the event, in part, when he said, “Our vets are being mistreated. Illegal immigrants are treated better in many cases than our vets, and it’s not going to happen any more. It’s not going to happen any more.”
Despite Trump’s absence from the Fox debate, a Drudge Report poll measuring readers’ Republican presidential shows he is ahead of the rest of the field with 61.38 percent of the more than 840,000 total votes as of the time of this article.
Sen. Ted Crux comes in second, with 19.02 percent support.
