Wednesday at the White House press briefing, press secretary Josh Earnest reacted to Republican front-runner Donald Trump’s plan to skip the Fox News debate Thursday.

Earnest said, “Since you brought up the Politico interview, the president himself noted that he was not a big fan in participating in presidential debates, but he never backed out of a debate two days before it’s scheduled to be held. And I think that demonstrates his own commitment to the process and making good on one’s commitments. We have seen over the last several months Mr. Trump has repeatedly chosen to kick reporters out of the room for asking tough questions. It appears he is taking that approach to a new level by avoiding those questions entirely.”
