Texas Senator Ted Cruz reacted quickly to the news that Donald Trump had decided to skip the Fox News debate in Iowa on Thursday.
Speaking to voters in Fairfield, Iowa, Cruz said, “Apparently, Megyn Kelly is really, really scary,” according to reporters who attended the rally.
Cruz called Trump a “fragile soul” and, if he were given tough questions, his “hair might stand.”
“I would ask that he at least show respect to the great men and women of Iowa,” he added. As his supporters applauded, Cruz continued, “If someone did that – didn’t show up at the interview – you know what you’d say? You’re fired!”
Cruz also challenged Trump to a one-on-one debate during an interview with radio host Mark Levin.
“If Donald is afraid to defend his record, it speaks volumes,” Cruz said.
