How badly has Washington D.C. been hit by the current snowstorm? According to the Washington Post’s Robert Thompson, reporting on Monday:
- Most governments and schools closed Monday; and many plan to stay closed on Tuesday;
- The Silver, Yellow and Blue lines of the Metro were closed; the only Metro service was for emergencies;
- Only a few dozen bus routes are working, and only till 5 p.m.
- The area was inundated with black ice, snow and ice on ramps, merge lanes and turn lanes, and some blocked-through lanes.
All Metro lines, except the Silver Line, were scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m. Tuesday. The federal government was closed Monday; for a list of school closures on Tuesday and Wednesday see here.
