On the campaign trail, New Jersey governor Chris Christie took a question from one woman who asked him if he had ever cried in office.
“Yeah, multiple times,” he replied.
Christie explained that he cried when was first sworn into office calling it an “extraordinary overwhelming moment” for him.
“I wept that day, I did,” he recalled.
He also admitted that he cried “almost daily” in response to the catastrophe of Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Christie shared the story of one woman he met after the storm after touring a home that was severely damaged.
“If you don’t cry then, with her, you’ve got nothing in here,” Christie said motioning to his heart.
The Christie campaign clipped the video and shared his response to the question.
It’s not the first time that Christie has admitted to weeping as Governor of New Jersey.
He admitted crying after meeting and getting a hug from Bruce Springsteen and also reportedly cried in reaction to the bridgegate scandal. But he didn’t cry after hearing about Cecil the Lion.
