Sen. Marco Rubio is a die-hard Dolphins fan, but since his team failed to make the playoffs he has chosen a new team to root for in the final championship games on Sunday. The New England Patriots.
“I am indeed rooting for the Patriots on Sunday,” he announced at the APPS/UNH Manchester/NH1 News presidential forum as the audience applauded. “You see I have figured out that the more rings Tom Brady wins, the likelier he is to retire and then the Dolphins can be good again!”
The New England Patriots are extremely popular in New Hampshire and will play the Denver Broncos on Sunday for the AFC Championship. The winner of that game will go to the Super Bowl.
He also discussed his new football allegiance with New Hampshire’s NH1 News.
“You know what I’ve said, since someone’s going to go to the Super Bowl it mine as well be someone from the AFC East,” he said, when asked why he chose to root for the Patriots. “Plus if they win the Super Bowl that means the Patriots have an even lower draft pick. So that makes it even easier for the Dolphins.”
