Donald Trump has two things he is focusing on during the fight with Ted Cruz: The Texas Senator’s Canadian citizenship (which he has renounced) and the undisclosed loan from Goldman Sachs in his Senate race.
“He said with him being a Canadian citizen he said, ‘Oh I didn’t know that,’” Trump said today in Norwalk, Iowa. “How did he not know that? Then he said with the loans, ‘Oh, I didn’t know that.’”
Trump compared Cruz’s ignorance on important issues to the same excuses from Hillary Clinton, suggesting he was “just like all the other guys.”
“Smart guy, he doesn’t know that?” Trump asked mockingly. “Yeah, that’s worse than Hillary when you think about it.”
Trump hinted that it would be hard for Cruz to be tough on Goldman Sachs when they helped him with a personal loan, raising questions about whether people could trust him to protect them from the big banks.
“What’s he going to do, be rough on Goldman Sachs when he’s got a personal guarantee for like whatever the number was, a million dollars?” he said.
“It’s wrong, it’s wrong, it’s really wrong,” Trump proclaimed. “And you can say what you want, but it’s absolutely wrong.”
