As socialist Bernie Sanders surges to a tie in Iowa and a massive +27 point lead in New Hampshire, David Brock, founder of the left-wing propaganda site Media Matters, and a key Hillary Clinton ally, gave us a preview of the future as Hillary faces a repeat of her worst nightmare scenario of 2008. In an interview Tuesday night, Brock ripped Sanders as a “socialist wackadoodle.”
SHOTS FIRED! LOOK FOR worried Clinton allies to begin pushing a new line on Bernie Sanders: He’s SOCIALIST, and a little nutty! DAVID BROCK, a top outside Hillary ally, previewed the new line of attack yesterday in an on-camera interview, telling John Heilemann that Senator Sanders is “a socialist … not a Democrat … He has a 30-year history of associating with some wackadoodle [eccentric, fanatical] ideas.”
According to the New York Times, this appears to be part of a broader strategy by Clinton supporters, who are growing increasingly (justifiably so) alarmed over the surging Sanders.
Democrats backing Hillary Clinton, nervously eyeing Senator Bernie Sanders’s growing strength in the early nominating states, are turning to a new strategy to raise doubts about his candidacy, highlighting his socialist beliefs to warn that he would be an electoral disaster who would frighten swing voters and send Democrats in tight congressional and governor’s races to defeat.
This is a classic Clinton strategy: use surrogates to get personally nasty and if it backfires disavow any role in the attacks. This is exactly what happened earlier this month after Brock demanded the 175 year-old Sanders release his medical records.
In the past, the DC Media has allowed the Clintons to get away with this. In fact, during the 1990’s, the DC Media were allies in these personal attacks, especially against the women who claimed to have been sexually abused by Bill Clinton.
There is no question today that this same media is completely in the tank for the Bungler of Benghazi, the problem for them is that New Media has so changed the game, they can no longer fully control the political narrative to protect the Clintons.
