According to police, a woman who reported she was raped at gunpoint said she met her rapist on the dating website eHarmony.

The 28-year-old victim said that her website date called himself “Jeffrey Kent” on the service, but she was unsure if that was his real name.

The woman reported that their first meeting was arranged for 4PM on January 11 in New York City. She also said she took a bus to get into the city.

The victim reported that after meeting the man at the Port Authority, the “date” immediately suggested they move their first meeting to a hotel room, a suggestion she says she refused.

It was then he revealed he had a gun and told her to follow his orders or risk being shot.

The woman claims the “date” forced her to a secluded spot of the Port Authority where he raped her at gunpoint. Being unfamiliar with the city, she could not pinpoint for police exactly where she was taken.

After the man abandoned her, she eventually found a fireman sitting in his vehicle. She reported the rape to the first responder and was taken to Roosevelt Hospital for treatment.

The New York Post reports that the dating service has yet to issue a statement about the incident.

Founded in 2000 by psychologist Neil Clark Warren, the eHarmony site claims to use scientific compatibility formulas to arrange more stable relationships and says, in advertisements, that each day 438 singles marry the person they met through the service.
