Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is leading in Iowa with Donald Trump close behind him, according to a new Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics Iowa Poll.
Cruz takes the top spot with 25 percent, while Trump is in second with 22 percent. Cruz has seen a drop of six points since the last poll, but his favorability among likely caucus goers is still very high, with 76 percent of them viewing him favorably.
In third place is Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) with 12 percent, followed by Ben Carson at 11 percent. No other Republican presidential candidates have double digit support.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has 5 percent, followed by 4 percent for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie have 3 percent of support.
The telephone based poll was conducted from January 7-10 with likely Republican caucus-goers. The margin of error is plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.
