GOP presidential candidate former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee says he hopes the reported testing of a hydrogen bomb by North Korea turns out to be nothing more than a “hollow boast” from the country’s dictator.

“Let’s hope the story about North Korea’s nuclear testing of an H-bomb turns out to be nothing more than another hollow boast from North Korea’s mega-maniac dictator with the funny haircut,” Huckabee stated in a press release on Wednesday.

But true or not, this is the sort of threat that many feared was inevitable once we started allowing an aggressive rouge state to develop nuclear reactors “for peaceful energy purposes,” with assurances that UN inspectors would prevent them from ever weaponizing that program. Another reminder why the Iranian deal is unacceptable because this is what happens when state sponsors of terror and aggression get weapons they are not mature enough to handle.

Huckabee was responding to North Korea’s claim it tested a hydrogen bomb on Tuesday.

He added, “Sadly, we’re to this point because a Republican-controlled Congress inexplicably granted this President the unchecked power to negotiate for this nation. Congress got rolled again and let Iran follow North Korea down the nuclear road.”

“As president I restore foreign policy that will ensure our enemies fear us and our allies trust us,” Huckabee concluded.
