Florida Gov. Rick Scott told Fox News’s Neil Cavuto that Donald Trump “absolutely” could win the general election during an interview on Wednesday.
Cavuto asked Scott if Trump were the Republican nominee, could he win? Scott responded, “Absolutely.”
“This is the year for Republicans. I think a Republican is going to win,” Scott said during the interview.
Scott, from the sunshine state that is also home to both GOP presidential candidates Sen. Marco Rubio and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, said Donald Trump is “expressing a frustration.”
“We’re tired of the federal takeover of our economy,” he added.
“The candidate is going to be the candidate that figures out how to have a credible plan for robust job creation. I think all the Republican candidates have that opportunity,” Scott told Cavuto on Wednesday. “Americans are tired of where we’re going.”
“They ought to talk about jobs. Outsiders are winning because they talk about what Americans care about,” Scott explained. “We need more jobs.”
Scott was a successful businessman in the healthcare field before becoming Governor of Florida. He said the candidate that will win is the person that “has a plan for jobs.”
