An unarmed man in Lawrenceville, Georgia, was shot on December 28 after pacing back and forth near a 95-year-old woman at a storage facility, then shoving her.
According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, that afternoon, the 95-year-old woman, her adult son, and her daughter “were at Public Storage on Riverside Parkway when a man in his 20s parked nearby.” The family told police the man got out of his car and was “pacing and staring as the family moved their items.”
The man then closed the distance on the family and shoved the 95-year-old woman. The son then retrieved his gun and warned the man to stay away. Instead of heeding the son’s command, the man charged the son, who shot him in the abdomen.
The wounded man was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center, and his condition was not reported.
Police say the shooting was in self-defense, and no charges are being filed at this time.
