Poor former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
The poorly performing former GOP frontrunner is now so desperate he’s asking for a one-on-one debate with actual Republican frontrunner billionaire Donald Trump.
“Donald, I’ll take you on one-on-one in a debate, any time, any place,” Bush said of Trump at the Forum Club in Palm Beach, Florida. “You name it and I’ll do it.”
Bush, who’s lagging down in the polls and has been for months, has been replaced by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)—his protege—and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie as the new frontrunners in the establishment lane for the GOP nomination. Trump, meanwhile, has dominated polling GOP-wide for more than five months, and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)—who’s leading in the conservative lane for the GOP nomination—is beating not just Bush but Rubio and Christie as well in most polling.
Bush has made efforts to attack Trump a centerpiece of his campaign as of late, using the most recent debate in Las Vegas, Nevada—hosted by CNN, and moderated by Wolf Blitzer—to swipe at Trump, calling the billionaire a “chaos candidate.”
Trump, in response–in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News in the spin room post debate at the Venetian Resort and Casino there–laughed it off and said if he were doing as badly as Bush is doing, he’d be making the same desperate lunges.
“I think he did the right thing,” Trump told Breitbart News. “He’s getting clobbered in the polls. He’s trying to save his campaign. I think he did the right thing. And I would have done the exact same thing.”
