Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol said Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s “mystique” will disappear if he loses the 2016 Iowa Caucus.
Kristol said, “I think he’ll lose Iowa. I think once he loses Iowa that’s a big moment. So much of Trump’s appeal depends on his mystique…I’m a winner, I’m ignoring the usual rules in politics. If there’s an actual vote in Iowa, and you see the vote on the screen — if it’s Cruz 47,000, Trump 31,000, or maybe even Rubio or someone else close to Trump I think at that point the sort of — the mystique is gone and Trump has to be a candidate like everyone else. At that point I think he’s very vulnerable.”
