Thursday on MSNBC, the former Gov. Ed Rendell (D-PA), also the former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said in the presidential election debates, any Democrat—Bernie Sanders, Martin O’Malley, or Hillary Clinton will “expose” Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s “lack of knowledge about things like the nuclear triad.”
Rendell said, “I think any Democrat—Bernie Sanders, Martin O’Malley—one-on-one with Donald Trump would be very advantageous. Donald does well when he controls the agenda. When speaking to a Trump rally. Even in the debates, nine, ten candidates, you know, moderators don’t get to press him on substantive issues well. But in a one-on-one debate in the fall, whether Hillary Clinton or any Democrat, Donald Trump’s lack of knowledge about things like the nuclear triad will be exposed to the public big time. And I don’t think he’ll seem ready to be president at that point. ”
When asked about Donald Trump’s tweet telling Hillary Clinton to be careful, Rendell said, “Let me tell you, with everything that Hillary Clinton’s been through in her public career, Hillary’s not afraid. She’s not afraid of anything. She’s seen it all. She’s heard it all. She’s been attacked by people a lot tougher and a lot smarter than Donald Trump.”
