GOP presidential candidate, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, says it’s “ridiculous” for Democrat frontrunner Hillary Clinton to say that Donald Trump’s proposed Muslim immigration ban was a recruiting tool for the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group.
As contrary to what Barack Obama has said and even some Republicans have said – some of the more isolationist Republicans – say we’re the reason, because Donald Trump wants to not allow Muslims to come in that incites the jihadists. They use it as a recruiting tool. I heard this the other day that Hillary Clinton [said] they used it as a recruiting tool – that’s ridiculous!
Santorum, appearing on Breitbart News Daily with host Stephen K. Bannon, said he was listed as an enemy of ISIS because he understands and calls out their ideology.
The only person that’s been listed in ISIS magazine as an enemy of ISIS is me. And you know why they listed me? If you go back and read the article that was in the April edition of ISIS magazine online, it wasn’t because I was criticizing… the reason I was identified as an enemy was because I identified who they are. And I said here’s who they are, they hate us because who we are, and here’s how we have to defeat them.
“The reason I was identified as an enemy was because I identified who they are,” Santorum charged. “I went in and I understood their ideology.”
They put that quote in their magazine and said I am an enemy because of that. Their enemies are people who understand them and know how to defeat them. Their friends are people who refuse to understand them and allow them to go out and claim legitimacy within Islam and not attack them for who they are.
Santorum says he is ready to be president during a time of war and lead the nation in the fight against radical Islam.
“We have to be focused on how we’re going to understand the mind of the jihadist and be able to defeat them, understanding who they are what they believe and how they motivate people to join them,” Santorum stressed.
“I felt like I was doing a theology course in many respects laying out the theology behind the enemy and why that’s important,” Santorum said of his debate performance during the December GOP primary debate hosted by CNN in Las Vegas, Nevada earlier this month.
Santorum also criticized President Obama’s foreign policy and national security.
“As the American public becomes conscious of an issue and demands some sort of response, Obama responds and does something in order to placate the American public that he’s doing something, but there’s no overall vision.”
“President Obama has no experience, had no idea what he was dealing with and was purely looking at national security as a political move as opposed to something that was actually designed to keep us safe,” Santorum challenged.
