As a bastion of the dark side of the Force, Planned Parenthood co-opted Star Wars imagery in an attempt to capitalize on the outstanding popularity of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The ever-alert Katie Yoder of the Media Research Center, a media watchdog group specializing in exposing liberal bias, tracked down a number of tweets from different branches of Planned Parenthood in which the abortion giant attempts to ally itself with the Star Wars franchise.
One noteworthy example, displaying a crassness that is emblematic of Planned Parenthood, shows two crossed condoms meant to look like the red and blue light sabers from the films.
In another bizarre image, Planned Parenthood crosses Princess Leia with Rosie the Riveter, with the caption “Join the rebel alliance today.”
Given its real-life occupation as the country’s largest abortion provider, perhaps a more apt symbol for the group, in keeping with the Christmas holiday, would be the figure of King Herod crossed with Darth Vader. The caption could then read, “Join the Dark Side, and we can slaughter babies together.”
Another Planned Parenthood tweet portrays a lineup of Star Wars PEZ figurines professing to “#StandWithPP,” despite the fact that the characters shown all worked to defend, rather than exploit, women and children.
A short video clip tweeted by Planned Parenthood shows a group of stormtroopers dancing in a style reminiscent of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
On Tuesday, evangelist Franklin Graham publicly left the Republican Party because of its continued funding of Planned Parenthood.
On his Facebook page, Graham blamed Congress for its culpable negligence for not halting the public funding of the abortion provider.
“After all of the appalling facts revealed this year about Planned Parenthood, our representatives in Washington had a chance to put a stop to this, but they didn’t,” he wrote.
“There’s no question—taxpayers should not be paying for abortions!” he said. “Abortion is murder in God’s eyes. Seeing and hearing Planned Parenthood talk nonchalantly about selling baby parts from aborted fetuses with utter disregard for human life is reminiscent of Joseph Mengele and the Nazi concentration camps!”
