Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump accused Hillary Clinton of “staging” a question from an Iowa female child in order to generate negative headlines about Trump.
Clinton referred to Trump in her reply to a 10-year-old white female about what she would do as president to stop bullying.
“We are not treating each other with the respect and the – and the care that we should show toward each other,” Clinton said. “And that’s why it’s important to stand up to bullies wherever they are, and why we shouldn’t let anybody bully his way into the presidency.”
Though Clinton did not lay out a specific policy proposal for fighting the bullies, the cable news sphere blasted headlines about Trump’s bullying.
“The Hillary Clinton staged event yesterday was pathetic,” Trump tweeted in response. “Be careful Hillary as you play the war on women or women being degraded card.”
Clinton, who rarely speaks except in pre-written talking points, then accused Trump of “bigotry,” “bluster,” and “bullying.”
Trump is being accused by media professionals of being a sexist bully because he said that Clinton got “schlonged” by Barack Obama in the 2008 primary. Trump later said on Twitter that “schlonged” is a common political phrase.
