Now that Chris Christie is showing some life in New Hampshire, the left-wing frauds at PolitiFact are fabricating details in order to attack him as a liar over comments the Republican New Jersey Governor made about the Obama Administration inviting Russia into Syria. The partisan serial liars at PolitiFact rated this factually-accurate Christie statement as mostly false:
“I’ll tell you what reckless is,” Christie said during the debate on Dec. 15, 2015. “What’s reckless is is calling Assad a reformer. What reckless is allowing Russia to come into Crimea and Ukraine. What reckless is is inviting Russia into Syria to team with Iran. That is reckless. And the reckless people are the folks in the White House right now. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are the reckless people.”
PolitiFact pretended that Christie meant something he didn’t, that the White House had invited Russia to engage in airstrikes over Syria, which is an intentionally absurd assumption on PolitiFact’s part. Everyone knows Syria shocked the world with that move.
Christie has made this statement before. During an appearance with CNN’s Jake Tapper back in early October, Tapper challenged Christie on it. Christie responded by explaining exactly what he meant and backing it up with concrete facts:
Obama “invited Putin in to broker an agreement with Assad to give up his chemical weapons, which Assad has not done,” Christie told Tapper. “Once you invite Putin in for that part of it, you can’t then pick and choose given the Obama approach what you do. So he did invite him in, Jake. And it was wrong.”
Christie is objectively accurate on this point. We all watched this unfold in real time. Obama had backed himself into a corner with his “red line” comment. Russia, sensing an opportunity to put its camel nose in the tent, offered our feckless president an escape hatch that at the same time would allow Russia to show the world it was invited by the United States into the Syrian situation.
Putin has been outmaneuvering Obama ever since.
It was, in fact, one of the smartest geopolitical moves of the last decade.
PolitiFact knows what Christie meant last week. We know this because the left-wing frauds even quote Christie’s answer to Jake Tapper. But they bury it at the bottom of 20 paragraphs and dismiss it without comment.
Nonetheless, ever in the service of Barack Obama, even though they know the truth, PolitiFact declares Christie a liar.
