Donald Trump is taking a clear stand against the War on Christmas at his recent campaign rallies.

Trump, as is his custom, thumbed his nose at anyone who might be offended by celebration of the Christian holiday.

“You know what I’m gonna say to start off? Merry Christmas,” Trump said at an Iowa rally last Saturday. “And Happy Holiday. Happy Holiday, but ‘Merry Christmas,’ you don’t hear it anymore!” Gesturing to an arrangement of Christmas trees and poinsettias, the Republican presidential candidate said, “so this is all about Christmas and having a good holiday… did you ever notice you don’t hear that anymore? It’s very sad. You go to these stores and they don’t put, they say–something–like, they put whatever they put up, but they don’t say ‘Merry Christmas.’ They’ll start saying ‘Merry Christmas’ again, folks. Believe me.”

At a Monday rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Trump again covered the stage in poinsettias and hung giant wreaths instead of Christmas trees. Curtains behind the stage were lit in green and red.

This is not the first time Trump’s campaign has employed striking stagecraft. For instance, at the unveiling of his policy for veterans’ care, he spoke from the deck of the retired ship USS Iowa in Los Angeles.
