At the Republican primary debate on Tuesday, Republican front-frunner Donald Trump invoked Israel’s security barrier, noting that it could serve as an example of how countries can successfully protect themselves against infiltrators.
Although Israel built the barrier to fight terrorists, Trump said this measure could apply to illegal immigration.
Trump, who has long advocated a similar obstacle along the U.S.’s shared border with Mexico, said such a wall would be tremendously effective, although it must be part of a much larger enforcement effort along the border.
