A scandal involving Hillary Clinton’s favor for a buddy of her son-in-law at Goldman Sachs has sparked an official complaint and wide coverage in the establishment media.
PEOPLE magazine has the lowdown on the complaint from the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust:
The group filed a complaint with the U.S. Office of Government Ethics on Monday, alleging that Clinton “gave a private company special access to the State Department based upon the company’s relationships with Secretary Clinton’s family members and donors to the Clinton Foundation.”
The complaint, first obtained by TIME, comes two weeks after one of Clinton’s court-ordered email releases showed that she asked a senior State Department official to follow up on a special request from [Marc] Mezvinsky, the husband of her daughter, Chelsea Clinton.
Breitbart News reported last week on the slick August 2012 power-play pulled off by young former Goldman Sachs employee Harry Siklas, who went to Chelsea’s husband Mezvinsky on behalf of a deep-sea mining firm, Neptune Minerals.
“I introduced them to GS and the bankers took them on as a client,” the New York-based Siklas told Mezvinsky in an email.
Mezvinsky sent the request to Clinton, who told an aide, “Could you have someone follow up on this request, which was forwarded to me?”
“I’ll get on it” said her department subordinate Thomas Nides.
Siklas’ investment career may have benefited from this “I know Hillary’s son-in-law” trick shot, but let’s see if he can pull it off again.
Either way, it looks like he needs to lawyer-up.
