Donald Trump leads the GOP field in South Carolina, according to a Fox News poll that shows Trump enjoys more than a 15-point lead over the next-closest Republican.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Dr. Ben Carson, who both had 15 percent in the poll, came in second to Trump’s 35 percent. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) came in third with 14 percent, while former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush ranked fourth with five percent. The other GOP candidates were at or below two percent in the poll.
On the Democrat side, Hillary Clinton enjoys a 45-point lead with 65 percent in the poll over self-proclaimed Socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) who had 21 percent.. Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley is at 3 percent.
South Carolina is the third state primary for the GOP field, after Iowa and New Hampshire, and it’s the first state in the south.
The Fox News poll surveyed 437 likely GOP voters with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percent. The survey included 364 Democrat voters and had a plus or minus 5.0 point margin error.
